Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

So I don’t even remember how I stumbled across Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, but I started out with their “Hearts of Oak” album (with the exceptional song “Where have all the rude boys gone”) and was instantly hooked. It’s a solid album with some catchy riffs and great vocal and lyrical work. I also picked up their 3 song set “Sharkbite
Sessions”, which is exclusive to iTunes, and was just as pleasantly surprised with it as well. Now I just picked up “Shake the Sheets” and wow! What a great album! One of the most under appreciated albums that I’ve never heard of, until now. I’m no record reviewer so don’t expect any elaboration about what I like. I’ll just say that it’s a very solid, semi-punk, pop and rock album. I’m only through my first listen, but sometimes that’s all it takes to know that you’ve found something special. I expect this one to get some heavy rotation on my iPod. Check it out, you won’t be sorry.

  1. On further review, do you find Hearts of Oak much better than Shake the Sheets? I do.

  2. I think Hearts is a little more well rounded, but there are some gems on Shake the Sheets. I haven’t experienced all of Ted’s albums yet, it’s on my list of things to do. I do really like the Sharkbite Sessions exclusive EP he released on iTunes. Loyal to my Sorrowful Country is a great song, as is the remake of 6 Months in a Leaky Boat.
