Since I got my iPhone (1st generation baby!) I’ve enjoyed taking pictures with it when I’m out and about. But I never felt very comfortable taking a self portrait. There’s no way to really know you’re finger is on the button, plus since it’s at the bottom it makes the phone “top-heavy” while you’re trying to line up your shot. So I tried something today and it worked great. Turn your phone upside down, it makes for a more confident grip on the device and you’re still able to line up the shutter to yourself easily. Then, use your finger to locate the “home” button and leave it there until you’re ready to take the pic. Then, when you’re ready, just slide your finger downward and you’ll trigger the button to take the picture. That’s it! I’m sure I’m not the first person to do this, but I just had to share this recent discovery!
P.S. Don’t worry, your photos won’t be upside down using this method.
P.S.S. Yeah I obviously did some Photoshop stuff to these pics but they were taken on the iPhone so there…
